Golf is a game of self-discipline, where rules are self-officiated, and honesty and integrity are expected of those who play it.
A game of skill and ingenuity where problem solving and strategy skills are learned in abundance. But above all it's a game for Gentlemen and Women where sportsmanship rules above everything.
The Golf swing is also one of the very few athletic movements where all the major muscle groups are given a workout.

A sport with unlimited fun and endless opportunities where valuable lessons are learned and skills instilled that stay with you for the rest of your life.

Why Junior Golf at John O'Gaunt?

Here at John O'Gaunt Golf Club we have an exceptionally active Junior Section which is very popular with both boys & girls aged 10 - 18. Membership starts at just £180 per year, so why not join our thriving junior community?

For younger players just starting out, we also offer a Cadet Membership for players aged 6 to 12 years, priced at just £100. It's the perfect opportunity for children to try a new sport and learn from qualified coaches.

Open to young golfers of all abilities
Dedicated Junior Organisers and Patron.
Juniors have their own Captain and Committee.
Juniors achieving an Official Handicap of 36 have full playing rights with access to the golf courses 7 days a week.
In addition to a programme of dedicated competitions, Juniors can participate in weekly/monthly competitions alongside adults, and subject to handicap, are eligible to participate in selected Trophy Competitions including Club Championships

All junior members are offered the opportunity to grow and develop their game with Tom Simm's Junior Academy at no additional charge!

The Tom Simm Golf Academy

Our Head PGA Professional, Tom Simm , supported by fellow PGA Professionals Richard Childerley and Nick Gilbert , offers a multi-layered programme that develops a complete novice golfer into a junior golfer. It is recognised as the best way for youngsters to get into the game of golf and realise their true potential.

Developed by a team of highly experienced PGA professional golfers, the four experience- and age-based programmes cover every aspect of the game, giving children targets to work towards, exciting challenges, and rewards for achievement.

The golf academy sessions run between April and September. We offer 12 Saturday sessions between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for juniors to attend, each one specialising in developing key aspects of the game, from long game technical work to short game and putting practice.

As members of the golf academy, players will be paired with other children of similar age and experience to grow and learn about the game of golf in a friendly and positive environment.

The Junior Academy has now launched winter training sessions, providing kids with the opportunity to work closely with our pro team in smaller class sizes, focusing on a range of essential golf skills. The winter sessions cost £120 for 12 sessions, bookable from November through March. If you are interested, please contact our Pro Shop team.
